Pathogen: Phoma spp.
Conditions for Disease Development: Poorly drained soil and warm temperature
Hosts: Onions, Garlic, Leek, Shallot/Chives
Symptoms: Affected roots turn pink in colour. Growth is stunted. Severe infected seedlings may wilt and die. As the rooting system is affected, in severe infestation, the plant ability to absorb water and mineral salts from the soil is reduced. The leaves turn yellow to brown/dark brown, start to wilt and die, starting from the tips. Infected plants do not die but produce undesired soft bulb
